“It seems to me that we humans are in an almost constant state of longing – either a longing for someone or something that we don’t have yet or that we at one time had but then later lost. In this book of poetry, I seek to address that aspect of our human condition – this longing, this ‘desiderium’ (Latin word).”
Wil Michael Wrenn explores desiderium in the sense of longing. Through his poetry collection, one can feel the deep desire for something once cherished. There is a deep desire in the heart for what it once had. Loss brings with it silence, regret, and pain. Wrenn explores this in his unique way, going deep into the subject.

Wil Michael Wrenn is a poet/songwriter who lives in rural north Mississippi. He has an MFA from Lindenwood University and is a songwriter/publisher member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). His work has appeared in numerous journals, magazines, and anthologies, and he has published three books of poems, the most recent two having been published by Silver Bow Publishing, BC, Canada. Theory of Love
Shandy sat on the couch, pondering what she was to do with her life after her husband passed away. She had always been focused on him and their son and the idea of doing anything different for herself was foreign. In a way, she was puzzled over what was even missing in her life. She had been a loving, supportive wife and mother, by all the ways she cared for her family. By any means, she decided one thing for certain, she had to find out if she really liked who she was and then decide if this also meant she felt self-love. She got up off the couch, ventured out for a hike, and decided to do what made her smile, knowing this would lead to one thing, in theory, that all components of a happy life for her needed to be explored, then she would know what truly fed her soul.

Her dear, dear friend died.
It was in telling him her news.
She found out he was gone.
She searched through random places.
And his information was not random, after all.
And now he lives on in his words.
