It’s time again to think of the 10 things I am thankful for this week. Let’s go!

1. Losing weight. It’s 2 more off WOOHOO!!

2. Shorts – it’s turning warm and I am glad for less because I know the pool will open soon.

3. Berry Season – Here in NC it’s berry season and I am loving the taste of local berries. I know I mentioned Strawberries last time, but it’s more than that this week. Yummy!!

4. Joy Prom – Daughter attended Joy Prom on Friday and had a blast! I love that this happens each year, sponsored by local churches and vendor assisted.

5. Dental School – I am almost finished with my dental work and I am so grateful for a dental school near enough to get this done. My student graduated, but he stick around until I am finished. Isn’t that a double win?

6. Art – Daughter is here for the weekend and I taught her about Sidewalk Crack Art and she created a cute cardinal. She caught on quickly.

7. The ability to read. I am reading a book as a beta reader for one of my fellow writing peeps and am grateful that I get to enjoy this. I am one chapter 4.

8. Book Club – Thanks to the interest, there is going to be a book club in my living community and I will be leading said club, starting in June.

9. Challenges – I have some physical challenges I am trying to get past and I am grateful that I am able to try.

10. Birth – I was making some taco meat yesterday and discovered that my pepper had given birth.

Focus Lost

Felicity focused her eyes, peering at the glint of light, passing through the sliver in the wooden shack; She wondered who might cast shadows on the wall of this musty old cabin.

Stepping closer, to get a better focus she saw movement, not just one person but two; And she stopped in the mud, frozen by her vision, focusing all the more, yet not wanting to see as Richard pulled Charlene to his chest, struggling with Charlene; Gasping, Felicity thought they were lovers in abandon.

Richard lunged forward with his hand to his chest, wood scraping across the floor, bellowing as he fell against the wall, his girth sliding down the wall.

Running out the door, Charlene swooped atop the horse and galloped off into the darkened woods, leaving Richard moaning in pain and struggling, as Felicity heard him gasping for air.

“Richard,” Felicity ran to his side.

“Fel…” gasping for his breath, “I…” struggling for strength “‘m sor…lost…love…broke,” and as he took his final breath, she knew.

Simplicity Beckons

My Post (2)

Loyal followers, I am now ready to share the secret news I have mentioned in some prior posts. Aruna Gurumurthy, Author of several books of poetry has released, as of May 1, 2019, her latest book of poems: Simplicity Beckons.
As quoted from the Amazon page about this book:

“Simplicity Beckons is a book of poems. It expresses the author’s journey through life’s special moments, with a touch of creativity and blossoming of passion. The poems weave through tales of travel, the joys of infancy and the subtlety of human emotion as the reader walks through life and love, and jumps over unseen realms of imagination. Come, watch these small wonders and big emotions carry you away, as you bathe in a potpourri of divinity and delight.”

As one who has read this book of poetry, discussing the poems in this book with the author and enjoying the content, I found this to be a pleasant book of poetry that beckons us all to look at the day to day simple things in life and to celebrate these experiences.

I hope you will look at this book of poetry and find the joy that only you can feel as what you read resonates with your own lives.

Aruna Gurumurthy has now penned six books of poetry. I interviewed Aruna and here’s a little share of that:

Without further ado, I introduce you to Simplicity Beckons:

Congratulations Aruna! It’s beautiful!

Say I Do

She gazed into his hazel eyes and sighed.

Tenderly grazing his face with her finger she closed her eyes.

Asking for silence, she memorized every feature.

Beating as one, their hearts united.

Leaping for joy, they jumped hand in hand.

Ever more to be as one, they made the leap for love.

Stop, Don’t Stop

Stop, Don’t Stop

What I meant to say was
to stop what you are doing
and give me a big smooch

What I meant to say was
come here, honey
I have a hug for you

What I meant to say was
your eyes are what make me
swoon

What I meant to say was
how much I love you
to the moon

That is what I meant to say
and I want it to start
again and again and again

Another chance
may not happen
if you don’t stop
and start again
