It’s TTOT time! Let’s jump to it!

  1. Deals on graphics programs. I love it when it all just comes together when my budget matches my purchase.
  2. Sweet Dreams. When I have them, it is a celebration and I sure had sweet dreams a couple nights.
  3. Seeing sunshine and feeling warmth. Spring can spring anytime it wants.
  4. Coffee breaks with real people. Using caution, it is now possible. Baby steps.
  5. Events to come. We have one event coming up to show appreciation, a dedication:

6. The other event to come is the Book Launch for Zaneta Varnado Johns “After the Rainbow: Golden Poems.”

7. I am most grateful for the volunteerism and the devotion for both of these events. When you put the call out there and you get chill bumps from the supporters, well that’s a triple coated ice cream cone with sprinkles and nuts of thankfuls.

8. We had a nice celebration of daughter’s birthday. She always likes those Pepperridge Farms cakes, so that makes it easy. It’s a throwback to her younger years when they were used to celebrate during a very busy life. I think she was pleased with her birthday goodies. She always gets something she wanted for Christmas as we look at those end of year deals for her birthday. She was surprised, however, and that made it even better.

9. Getting through January. It’s a month of highs and lows, mostly lows and I got through it.

10. YOU! It’s good to see you! What’s you thankful? Put them in comments or join us!

poetry, short story, six sentence story, writing

Pop Bottles

shapely, ridged, swirled, green glass bottles

waiting for redemption, to fill our pockets

we searched the ditches, dumpsters, curbs

someone even searched the bottle stand

military bases brought their wealth

to entrepreneurs of the kid kind

…..

That’s my Six Sentence Story using the prompy word “redemption.” Go ahead and give it a try by going to this link

When a child, collecting and redeeming pop bottles was the way we made quick cash. It was a regular job to us, one we took seriously. My next oldest brother and I were most likely to pair up and search for these gems. He even hoisted me into the garbage dumpsters to hand him the bottles. Mom was not pleased, when she found out. Eventually, my brother grew into other work, but I continued this venture until I was about 12, when we moved and opportunities changed.

…..

Well, lookie there! I did a poem and a story. It’s enough redemption for this day.

Ten Things of Thankful-February 5 2022

Good Morning and Happy TTOT! I seem to be doing these on Saturdays, so hope you don’t mind I am a day late. Let’s hop to it.

  1. Thankful for trees that hold the gifts of the seasons and allow the world to see. Thankful that trees don’t hide.
  2. Thankful for Black History Month, which should also be Black History Year and I will observe it as such. And for the true portrayals of how it was and how it is, so I can increase my knowledge. I have been posting daily recognitions and challenges in the Poetry Circle of the Garden of Neuro Institute-A Safe and Brave Space for Women. Here is the link for this: LINK Thankful for the Garden of Neuro for providing a Safe and Brave Space to voice my thoughts and to share my experiences. And that the Poetry Circle of which I am the manager, has grown to just over 100 members.
  3. I think there are 2 thankfuls in #2…
  4. Thankful for this book of which I am a part: and you can buy a copy HERE (I know that’s not a TTOT thing, but this is something of which I am proud and want to share.
  5. Thankful for the opportunity to work with others in a joint venture this month. I will do a separate post about that when it’s ready. I am so fortunate to have people who support this.
  6. Thankful for the public library because I cannot afford to buy all the books.
  7. Thankful for the doctors and nurses and medical professionals, in general for helping us find answers for daughter. It is an ongoing thing, so we will continue operating on hope and faith.
  8. Thankful for good parents who taught me a thing or two about being self sufficient. Suffice it to say that my independent streak was set at a pretty early age.
  9. Thankful for the completion of another amazing poetry book and that I get to work with amazing poets to help their dreams come true. That will be another post, I promise that.
  10. YOU – Will you be my friend valentine? I don’t have a decorated box with construction paper and paste, but I have a heart which is capable of filling up. Here’s my valentine box in case you want to drop a virtual card in:
