as the day unfolds
mindfully somberness comes
ever seeking peace

I Am Jealous of Leo
Brothers, sisters, this is true
I have a story to tell to you
Years ago I learned of love
from a soul who has moved to places above
Leo Buscaglia is his name, a man of fame
He’s known for the Love books and lectures he gave
It was quite the movement so many years past
Love is truly something that lasts
Aside from his story of letting go and loving
There’s another one written that I find so moving
The name of the book is The Way of The Bull
There’s nothing quite as moving as the places he’d go
You see, Leo traveled to Asia, but not by tradition
No fancy hotels or sites of illusion
Leo traveled the way of the bull
In the spirit of Zen on these trips he would go
To gain such insight of the way of mankind
And finding the nature of man to unwind
The wealth of the story, although it’s not long
Is taking the chance to release your big strong
Allowing the moments of life to unfold
For truly the best things of life are not gold
It’s walking barefoot because they’ve no shoes
It’s sharing your undies when they gave you foods
It’s longing for loving and not for the junk
It’s giving your all with cheer and with spunk
So, yes I am jealous of Leo, it’s true
For to travel abroad such a way I’d pursue
Maybe one day, when I am old and gray
Nary much time left, I best find the way
Then again, when I look at my land of milk and honey
I needn’t travel far to see what is of plenty
So, jealous I am, but unable I’m not
It’s finding the joy in what is in my lot

So, there you have it! This is Day 7 of National Poetry Month and today’s prompt from Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetry Asides:
For today’s prompt, write a jealous poem. Maybe you’re jealous. Or maybe someone else is jealous of you–or someone else. Whether envious of another or suspicious of a partner, dive deep into this emotion today.

Private Photo I took in 2018 at Lake Lynn in Raleigh NC where there is a large turtle population.
Love the Turtles
What do poaching
coastal development
plastic debris
pollution
unfair trade
have in common?

It is hard to hear this
for my heart breaks
it’s true
placing hand over heart
I swear to make certain
to see this through.

Several species of turtles
are endangered
here’s a few:
Leatherbacks
Greens
Loggerheads
Hawksbills
Olive Ridleys
Kemp’s Ridleys
Flatbacks
all turtles with a purpose.

Empowered by our own abilities
we can make a difference
sharing the facts
taking a stand
telling our fellow people
taking a ride to the ocean-side
caring for those more vulnerable
reading-learning-teaching.

While walking along the lake side
there were so many turtles
swimming
sunbathing
nestling
enjoying their domains
kept in splendid care
signs posted “Do Not Feed the Wildlife”
trusting that people are following those rules.

Left to their own
creatures fare well
people kind can help by not harming
not feeding when they ought not
polluting
leaving plastic stuffs to float out to the waters
all that mess to bring about bother and death
when it is time to show our love
peace has to come
I am certain.

It’s that time again to express my 10 Things of Thankful or TTOT
1. So, I did this for another challenge called The Six Sentence Challenge. I thought it fit in the theme of gratitude. You can hop over to read my actual post on my blog. Organ donor, that I am, I am hoping there is something left of me to help somebody else. Right now, I am grateful my organs are serving me well.

2. Along the same theme, I had a decent report at the doctor this week as far as numbers go. There are some goals, but I like that my doctor listened to me, I mean REALLY listened.
3. I mentioned the 14 Words of Love last time, but I am going to share what I posted that has meant a lot of love backs. It makes me happy when I can do something that sparks thoughts about how to make this world a better place. So here’s the graphic:

4. Birthday weekend was lovely last weekend with my daughter. She turned 43. We went out to eat a couple of times and spent some good quality time together. I don’t have pictures other than those in my heart.
5. My daughter finished my loom blanket, so now I need to crochet the panels together. I am happy to get it. I will take a picture when it’s completed.
6. Valentine’s Day was sweet to spend with my love. We had a home cooked meal, neither having energy to brave the wild. He’s working long days and we will wait until the weekend to go out.
7. About 3 years ago we were given an ice cream machine and we truly love ice cream about #1 on the favorite things list. I have an awesome recipe which I make using erythritol and stevia since I try to avoid sugar. Here’s the Recipe: Low Carb Dairy Free Ice Cream and I made a batch last night.
8. House Slippers. I was given Uggs for Christmas and they have saved me from falling. That’ a great bit thankful!!
9. Weather has been pleasant and making it easier for me to walk to the mailbox.
10. Convenience Foods. Most of the time I do things from scratch, but lately I have been too busy and I am grateful that there’s about anything you can get in a convenience form.
Those are my 10! How about you?

May this season of peace, joy, love and happiness be all that it is meant to be. There have been many ups and downs in the world. Many things are out of our control. As we reflect on the past and look to the future may we be mindful of the many ways we have been fortunate. Let’s take the spirit of the season into the new year. This is something we can do.
Blessings and Peace to You All
