Not Just Another Karen!

We could all use a good laugh and Karen delivers! Thanks to Midlife Margaritas for a great interview and introducing us to Karen.

If we are going to name more essential employees, I think we need to add comedians to the list. We need humor now more than ever. Did you know that lots of comedians are out of work? They can’t do clubs right now and if you watched the late night talk shows with no audiences, you know that’s not funny either.

So I am trying to get the word out about the best comedians out there. This week I have the funniest phone conversation with popular comedian Karen Mills. She’s not just another Karen either.

We had an 11 am phone interview set up and a little after 11 she called and said she was sorry for being a little late but she swore she thought I was calling her then realized she was supposed to call me. We laughed because you know that is reality now days!…

She loves her children more than life itself

Hugging them each day when they wake

Owning up to what it means to be a mom

Words of wisdom researched and imparted

Extra helpings of confidence builders

Resulting in children showered with love

Ten Things of Thankful – July 31 2020

Happy Friday and TTOT Day! Let’s jump in!

Beaches – I have seen so many pics lately of people at the beach and while I was worried about the pandemic, it seems that those who chose to go used just as many precautions as they would if they stayed home. It is not my place to judge, but I can be concerned. Fortunately, nobody seems to be any more at risk by going, again, because they made wise choices. I am grateful for wise choices.
Patterns for masks. Daughter has been cutting out fabric for masks and I am grateful she can do this. Sewing them to come soon.
Online opportunities. This week our Triangle Association of Freelancers “TAF” had the monthly meeting online via Zoom. I love getting together with these folks and there is always a special presentation.
Friday Noon Poets is a group who has been meeting in Chapel Hill, but with Zoom we are meeting on Friday’s. I am grateful for this lovely group.
Daughter was able to get a day of work this week and will work next week.
Completion of a special project to be announced.
A friend got into a new apartment which was much needed. Today is her moving day.

The pool is opening possibly this weekend. They have good rules.

Ten Things of Thankful – July 24 2020

Happy Friday and Happy TTOT Time! Let’s hop to it!

Cool breezes when I take walks.
Daughter’s tests came back with no worries. She is AOK! (Well, I knew that ;))
A poem I wrote, one of which I put my heart and soul into, has been published. It is going in my book. Here is the link. As sad as it may sound, it was cathartic to write, giving me another chance for closure. Here is the link.
Poet’s Connection is going well. We meet again tomorrow. And for August we have a special guest who will be conducting a workshop. With the internet we can bring in guests from just about anywhere and this one is from Washington DC.
Friday Noon Poets is a group based out of Chapel Hill NC and I have been attending their online meetings off and on. It is a great group and we get a chance to share what we have written and talk shop.
There are alternative choices in the world. Isn’t it great when we can go online to shop, visit, research…? If this happened when I was a child I would have been reading the same set of books over and again. But, I did that so much as a child, I suppose it didn’t hurt me. Nonetheless, we had libraries, but nowadays it is e-reading which is providing books unless we order and pay for them. I use the library for many e-books so I can save money. And did you know that you can request books when the library doesn’t have them? Oh yes you can! They may or may not decide to buy them, but you can ask. Our libraries are gradually opening for drop off and pick up if you order holds to pick up. I took the big stack and returned them, but I have plenty to read, for now. Now, if you do not have an e-reader and you do have a cell phone it may be possible to download books to your phone. I tried it and it worked. But I took it off, because I have a reader and it’s easier on my eyes and I listen to books on it sometimes.
I think there are gratefuls in bundles in #6 so I am taking extra credit.

Oh, there you are, still waiting for #9 OK I discovered that pimento cheese, which I have detested for YEARS has now found a place in my life. I discovered the warmed up version to be eat of of the bowl good, so now I have added it to the menu and even GASP eat it cold! Who am I???
