Happy Friday and Happy TTOT! Let’s get started!

  1. It’s cooled down! WHEW!!
  2. Remember the Scavenger Hunt last week? Well, we picked up the prizes yesterday and WOOWEE there were gift cards all totaling $30.
  3. I am almost to the end of a special project, anticipating total endness by Monday.
  4. I am keeping up with the poetry book a day. It’s been educational and uplifting.
  5. Uplifting messages through various media forms make me smile and often it is a simple statement.
  6. Poetry Critique group to help me be a better poet and I hope I help them too.
  7. It’s just been recently that I have had the itch to get out in the world, especially missing coffee shop hanging out. But, I can still mobile ahead and pick up or drive thru, but the feeling of sitting in a coffee shop is missing. They did open up the renovated clubhouse at our property. We can go there for coffee, but you sure need to mask up and be super cautious. Because…cooties…
  8. Opportunities for penance. I am glad I can repent for something I feel remorseful about.
  9. Saving the news for almost last. Poet and friend to me Aruna Gurumurthy’s book was published yesterday. I was an editor for the book, so I feel celebratory, as well. Down the Grassy Aisles was published by Kelsay Books.

10. YOU!! Here’s a chance to share your TTOT’s! Join us, why doncha?

Ten Things of Thankful – July 31 2020

Happy Friday and TTOT Day! Let’s jump in!

  1. Beaches – I have seen so many pics lately of people at the beach and while I was worried about the pandemic, it seems that those who chose to go used just as many precautions as they would if they stayed home. It is not my place to judge, but I can be concerned. Fortunately, nobody seems to be any more at risk by going, again, because they made wise choices. I am grateful for wise choices.
  2. Patterns for masks. Daughter has been cutting out fabric for masks and I am grateful she can do this. Sewing them to come soon.
  3. Online opportunities. This week our Triangle Association of Freelancers “TAF” had the monthly meeting online via Zoom. I love getting together with these folks and there is always a special presentation.
  4. Friday Noon Poets is a group who has been meeting in Chapel Hill, but with Zoom we are meeting on Friday’s. I am grateful for this lovely group.
  5. Daughter was able to get a day of work this week and will work next week.
  6. Completion of a special project to be announced.
  7. A friend got into a new apartment which was much needed. Today is her moving day.
  8. “5 Day Tales” I have been following. Here is the link in case you want to start reading.
  9. The pool is opening possibly this weekend. They have good rules.
  10. YOU! What have you to add for your Thankfuls? Give it a try. You will be glad you did.

Ten Things of Thankful – June 19 2020

Welcome to the TTOT for this week! Let’s get to it!

  1. Daddy would have been 100 on June 18. I am grateful to have had him for a father and that he is always looking after me from the other side.
1955 England

2. We got to go to the beach for a day and it was so refreshing and we cooked fresh shrimp when we got home. It was wonderful to see how the beachgoers practiced social distancing. The place where we ate was our first time in a restaurant since this pandemic. We were the first customers, wore masks until we were free of others, were way over six feet from others (an advantage of being first customers). The wait staff and cooks all wore masks, as well. We set up out chairs and umbrellas on the upper tier of the beach, so we were on top looking down to the ocean. It was a great view, but kept us in a safety zone.

Jodi is happy to be at the beach

3. 4. Progress with repairs in the home. They are maybe going to finish up today with putting up drywall from the repairs. There is now a new shower handle unit. Thankful, as well, that there is a second shower.

5. For the most part, I have not done any work related stuff this week, taking a break to reset my brain.

6. Beautiful flowers along the highway. North Carolina does a fantastic job of planting flowers alongside the interstates, making lovely pops of color along the way. Some know I do not favor interstate driving, but it is good when trying to just get somewhere faster than the back roads. One of my most favorite things is to go backroading, taking in all the awesome sights. I especially enjoy the old buildings and the wildflowers, farm lands, and the old time charm you often miss on the interstate.

7. Bathrooms while traveling.

8. Sanitary disinfectant cloths.

9. Fun with cardmaking with daughter. With the rainy days of staycation, we worked for two days on making cards.

10. You – what have you to share? Join in!

Ten Things of Thankful – April 17 2020

WordItOut-word-cloud-4158489 I found this WordItOut app and it was fun to create. I plugged in the words and it created this mix which I used for a poetry prompt.

Good Morning on this second day after tax day, but who’s sweating? Since tax day has changed to July 15 this year, it’s not quite the same. My favorite accountant said that in all the years he has been a CPA he has never seen this happen. We celebrate anyway as it’s always great to celebrate moments in our lives. And create our own kind of celebrative reasons. So, that is a #1 for thankfuls this week. #2 is that there have been opportunities to help with tax season. #3 is that it is lovely springlike (if not autumn) weather and walks are possible. #4 is that daughter is back to work-being very cautious with masking and gloves-and she is happy. #5 is that this is National Poetry Month and yours truly has been able to post prompts on this blog every day and a poem to the prompt. #6 is that despite chills and acheyness and a slight cough I believe I am only affected by my own usual ailments and not the one of which I will not speak. #7 is that my friend who is visually impaired has found a treatment which is helping with dry eyes and other benefits, hoping it sticks. #8 my other friend has been feeling much better in the migraine and depression departments. #9 grocery stores have senior hours for which I qualify. #10 is YOU and while you are here, how about stopping by. And you can go to the link in the blue box and join us. You don’t have to have ten, that’s for sure and for certain.

Have a Great Week and Remember that a smile is just behind your dearest memories.

Santa has put down his/her hat and now is the time to pick it up and think about all the ways we are grateful and ways we can bring gratitude to the lives of others. Isn’t that what Santa does? Here are the Top 10 Hits of 2019!

1. Trips – we were able to travel to New Bern in the spring, Charlotte in the Summer, to Winston Salem, and to Mount Airy. Also we were able to visit local places such as the art museum and arboretum.

2. Handiwork – I discovered I have not lost my skills with crochet and watercolor. Sometimes I get caught up with other things and think I have lost talents. I also discovered some new skills, which I am working on improving.

3. Writing – I have been working on a lot of projects and my book is being reviewed by a publisher.

4. Gratitude – I am grateful for this weekly practice of thinking about the things for which I am grateful. It helps me to turn challenges around.

5. Daughter visits – these are always fun and I look forward to the weekends she comes and going on vacation too.

6. People who reach out and help. We have had several times in this past year when others have helped get daughter to events and helped me with rides, as well.

7. Poetry – this is my first love, my first language, and it has been a very productive year.

8. Friends who are like family and family who are like friends.

9. Prayers answered – I have seen a lot of situations where prayer brought answers.

10. YOU! What about you? What are your thankfuls? Please consider adding a post this week.
