Happy March and TTOT Time!

It’s actually World Writers’ Day! I posted about that just a moment ago. If you are a writer or are thinking about working on writing skills, it’s a great day to get started!

  1. I am thankful to be a writer. I may not be perfect, but I try my best. What is most important to me is to keep trying. We all have a story to tell…
  2. That is my #2 thankful. I am thankful that people tell their stories. Whether fact or fiction or a mix of both, I love to read stories. I am thankful that I was able to finish reading a book yesterday.
  3. The Storied Life of AJ Fikry is the story I finished reading. I have seen the movie and decided to compare the book to the movie. I found some answers in the book that filled in the blanks. I am glad I read the book, for this reason.
  4. My baby rose bush is budding and it’s so cool to watch it. I keep it at my desk by the window and it’s very thankful as the sun comes in at just the right amount. Once it warms up steadier outside, I will move her out there.
  5. This week is a heavy week for me. I have a Women in Publishing Summit from tomorrow through Saturday. It’s going to be interesting; I am sure, and I am grateful I am able to do this via Zoom. There are also two other events at the same time, but thanks to recordings, I can get in all three. It’s just going to mean that I watch some videos next week.
  6. This cardinal has been visiting my porch on a regular basis. We don’t get them, normally, but I believe this is the same one, just one, coming around. He’s looking at the outdoor plants.
  7. Maintenance is a benefit when you rent. I am grateful for maintenance who fixed an urgent matter in the same day.
  8. I found turkey on sale for .79 a pound. It is a small one, which I prefer. We like turkey any time of the year.
  9. Daughter has been trying pickleball with her friend and is loving it. She is also starting a bowling team. She’s pretty pleased.
  10. YOU What’s your thankful? Let’s hear it!

Celebrations, poetry

Happy Bookiversary to Zaneta V Johns for After the Rainbow – Golden Poems

Would you believe that it’s been three years since this book was published? This means I have known Zan for over three years. And what a celebration this is!

What is After the Rainbow about?

Throughout the storms of the pandemic and other challenges, #1 bestselling poet Zaneta Varnado Johns wrote to capture her rainbow of intense emotions. In After the Rainbowmaturity oozes throughout the golden lyrics penned in her highly anticipated second book of poetry. The collection captures her transition to a woman in full pursuit of her passion, loving aloud through reflection. As she expresses deep feelings, appreciation for nature, and life’s simple pleasures, this book covers more than a steppingstone path, but a deep dive into the realities of life. From these depths, the eagle soars as we get to experience transitions and triumphs, all a grand, escorted travel through faith and hope.

Prepare to be amazed at the levels this author is willing to share. As a prolific force with her dedications, Johns has expressed her admiration for souls before her, luminaries among us, and precious ones we have lost. Be inspired by the senior citizen with spunk, Ms. Maggie. Wipe a tear at the photo of the author’s granddaughter as she reads Amanda Gorman’s poetry. Sandwiched between generations of inspiration, Johns beautifully celebrates the people who touch her life. You will be introduced to two esteemed poets from the United Kingdom, Sarfraz Ahmed and Pratibha Savani. Each poet collaborated with Johns on poems, including the award-winning poem, “New Wonderland,” co-authored with Savani.

After the Rainbow will captivate the reader with full on experiences, relatedness to life in life’s terms, and ultimately these golden expressions of poetry. We get to see inside the humor of this creative author as she shares about bubble baths, morning sounds, and a glimpse of her closet’s contents. Travel with her in the poem, “Casa Magdalena,” a cozy adobe spot in Santa Fe, New Mexico that captured her heart. Before we dip into the waters of this journey, Johns’ husband, James J. Johns II, offers a beautiful foreword and his own heartfelt poem. With this grand send off, this is a book which will be revisited time and time again.

We couldn’t let three years go by without a bonus for dedicated poetry lovers. Here’s what we have:

An exclusive discounted offer for each version of this beautiful poetry collection.

Ten Things of Thankful-February 3, 2025

Welcome to TTOT and Let’s hop to it!

  1. It’s Black History Month and I am most grateful for the many ways our lives have been affected by the contributions, the essence of Black persons. If there ever was a time to stand up and cheer, this is the time.
  2. You may notice that the month has started out with daily posts dedicated to the beauty of Black souls. Expect to keep seeing these. I am grateful that the choices are boundless.
  3. As some may notice, I don’t get my thankfuls up on a weekly basis. I still remain thankful, it’s just that the clock runs away from me, from time to time. I am thankful for your patience.
  4. One Saturday a month, there are several of us who are creatives who get together for sharing and working on projects. I am grateful for this consistency and real life meetings.
  5. Once a week there is a small group of us who get together at a local coffee shop. We share about a variety of topics and then work on our individual projects. We got off schedule in December and January have gradually gotten back on track. I believe we are full force forward, now. Our greatest decision is which location to choose. Raleigh has several options. I am grateful for this.
  6. I have been desiring in my heart to have a specified time to focus in quiet and while my mind is fresh for the day. My inner clock heard me (I don’t use alarms) and I have been naturally waking up between 3-4 a.m. The coffee goes on and the writing begins. This inner clock does like to wake me on weekends, too. We need to have a talk…
  7. Due to #6 I am grateful for nap time. And for early sleep times. As many of you know, I have had a time getting on a good sleep pattern. It has been going so much better.
  8. So many great things are happening that I will do one big whopping THANKFUL SHOUT OUT!
  9. I am thankful that I don’t need to believe a rodent about this spring thing. I am planning to have flowers blooming at first tweet.
  10. You! I am thankful for you. Please share with your blog or in comments or to the world, what your thankfuls are.
