Goalie – Six Sentence Story

Goalie – It’s an Acrostic Six

Getting into position, staying at their post for 60 long minutes, spanning over time.
Only one place to hold, that place requires several movements unbelievable to the       common person.
All of at least seven points of view, this important player must maintain a stance.
Leaning forward, backwards, sideways, sometimes upside down, acrobatic skills are a   must.
Ice turning into slush, grating under the blades, taunting the slide into chunky     challenged glides, all while preventing a score.
Ending is the beginning of success or not and the goalie has one more important thing to   accomplish and that is to breathe a sigh of relief, either way they are done for this day.

…..
There you have it! That’s my Six Sentence Story for this week. It has been a busy week, so this is running close to the goal line 😉 Better late than never, right? Go check out this PAGE and join in!

Ten Things of Thankful – May 10

It’s that time again to share the Ten Things of Thankful. You can go HERE to see more and to join in!

This has been a busy week. I’ve been on a break, I suppose one could say, but it’s been a short feeling break. So, without further delay, here’s this weeks YIPPEES!!

1. Getting Away-We took off on a weekend to New Bern NC. It was lovely there. Here are some photos to tell the story:

3. Nature and Gardens

Lots of beautiful gardens at Tryon Palace and Stanly House

4. Textures – this is a thing I have – I love to capture interesting shapes and textures. Things I saw in New Bern

5. The Neuse River

I have several more photos of the trip, but I don’t want to overload!

6. Mother’s Day is coming up and if you are fortunate to have your mother in your life, you are blessed. I miss my mother, who has been gone for 31 years. In light of Mother’s Day last year, I did a post about my own motherhood. Take a look if you wish: Mother’s Day is Every Day

7. Remember the secret I have been talking about? Well, I can now share it. You have to go to this post to check it out: Simplicity Beckons

8. Six Sentence Story – it’s still going strong. This weeks is a rather sad tale and I may go back and visit it some more. Focus Lost

9. Weight is holding it’s own…Staying the same the past two weeks, but I did go away and that’s sometimes a challenge, although I must say that I probably ate less vs more and made healthy choices. It’s not easy on the road, so I am saying I am grateful for this WIN!!

10. Farmer’s Market

On the way home I got a hankering for local strawberries and we stopped at the Farmer’s Market and loaded up big time. Pretty much, I got produce for the week and lots of strawberries!

My Post (2)

Loyal followers, I am now ready to share the secret news I have mentioned in some prior posts. Aruna Gurumurthy, Author of several books of poetry has released, as of May 1, 2019, her latest book of poems: Simplicity Beckons.
As quoted from the Amazon page about this book:

“Simplicity Beckons is a book of poems. It expresses the author’s journey through life’s special moments, with a touch of creativity and blossoming of passion. The poems weave through tales of travel, the joys of infancy and the subtlety of human emotion as the reader walks through life and love, and jumps over unseen realms of imagination. Come, watch these small wonders and big emotions carry you away, as you bathe in a potpourri of divinity and delight.”

As one who has read this book of poetry, discussing the poems in this book with the author and enjoying the content, I found this to be a pleasant book of poetry that beckons us all to look at the day to day simple things in life and to celebrate these experiences.

I hope you will look at this book of poetry and find the joy that only you can feel as what you read resonates with your own lives.

Aruna Gurumurthy has now penned six books of poetry. I interviewed Aruna and here’s a little share of that:

Without further ado, I introduce you to Simplicity Beckons:

Congratulations Aruna! It’s beautiful!

I Am Possible

staying on task 041219

I did it! We did it! It’s May 1 and every single day of National Poetry Month I was successful at writing a poem. It wasn’t easy. Some days I have a hard time getting that gray matter to work with me. Coffee induced labor may have been my guilty pleasure. There are things about me that you may not know. It’s hard for me to be creative on a consistent basis. It’s important to balance my life so that I have enough spoons to get through the day. Just the other day, I was trying my darnedest to create what some found to be a fun activity with art. What I ended up with, after several frustrating tries, was a mess. I threw it away. Yesterday, I tried again. While I did end up with something, it was not the same as others did for the assignment. This is what I had to tell myself: You are who you are and they are who they are and don’t you be comparing yourself to others! I have had to have that talk often, in my life. For years, I allowed myself not to create consistently because of letting negativity get in the way. It is very important for me to Stay on Task! If it takes me all day and then some to accomplish what it may take others a few minutes to a few hours, it’s on me to do me. I need to just focus on doing what is the essence of me. It’s my heart and my soul and my life and my own ways of expression.

Today I started thinking about what I would now do since the National Poetry Month is over. I like writing poetry every day. Know what I did? I went to Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Aside’s Blog and looked at today’s prompt and I wrote this poem:

Impossible

It is impossible
to stop
to go
to sleep
to concentrate
to function
IF
my whole world
depends on this belief
So
I will do the impossible
making it possible
by doing one thing
changing the way of looking
at impossible
changing it to
I’m possible

*****
Here was his prompt:
For today’s prompt, write an impossible poem. Write about something that’s impossible to do. Or write about something people once thought was impossible to do. Or write about something that’s impossible to NOT do. Whatever you decide, I hope it’s not impossible for you to poem along!

I won’t guarantee that I will post a poem a day. I will be writing behind the scenes. There is a big project I am starting today and that one requires me to write a lot of words. And I will continue my weekly Six Sentence Story and Ten Things of Thankful.

Here’s to a happy May! May your May memories be positive and turn into June possibilities. Thank you for listening to me.

I Heard it Again

I heard it again
that song
it reminded me
once again
of the two of you
George Morgan
Room Full of Roses

The story is as clear as today
you told us many times
how when you were in love
and broke each other’s heart
and then it happened

Daddy, you sent the roses
you sent the note
A roomful of roses
would never be enough
to show my love for you

Long story short
you were married in Reno
and this become
your favorite song

I am glad you had it
and each other

…..
So, there you have it! Day 29 of National Poetry Month

Thanks to Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Asides Prompt:

“For today’s prompt, take the phrase “(blank) Again,” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then write your poem. Possible titles include: “Here We Go Again,” “On the Road Again,” “Stumped on What to Write Again,” and “Doing the Wrong Thing Again.”
