It’s TTOT time! Let’s get at it!

Family Fun Night with the apartment community. We each did watercolors of fruit slices with a Zoom lesson from our CARES team. They plan all kinds of fun activities and this is one of many they have done as a workaround from the virus. They even provided sodas for our adventures, along with a bag of art supplies to do this.
Success for my God children who were able to buy a new-to-be-built house. Thankful for low interest rates.
Maintenance crew fixed the air conditioner for good. It took a couple of trips to seal the deal, but it is running like a champ! I am so grateful to be able to call and let them worry about the how tos.
Two poems were accepted for publication in an online magazine. There were two very tender poems, to me, and I am glad to find them a home.
Support in the writing community from various channels. Writing sprints, poetry critique group, writing support online are all wins!
Getting to read lots of real life stories.
Fireworks on the T.V. I enjoyed them just as much if not more because of heat and bugs and lots of people could all be a non-issue.
Getting to read a beautiful books of poems for someone who is going to be publishing.
Sunglasses.

Ten Things of Thankful – July 3 2020

Happy TTOT and Fourth of July celebration week! May you have at least a virtual celebration with fireworks and all! Only, this year, you will need a mask and social distancing. Looks like some with do this with parking and watching and others will do it virtually. Be safe and mindful and it should go well.

Opportunities to expand my reach. It’s a secret, but suffice it to say I have been given an opportunity to delve into something which I am familiar, but at another level of responsibility. It is exciting.
Editing. I am editing a horror/murder mystery and it’s crawling my skin, but it is also very good in that it is crawling my skin and piquing my curiosity. Except, I know what happens and woooo weeee! That’s all I gotta say about that.
Did you know it is World Watercolor Month? I found out about it in the Poet’s Connection meetup last Saturday. Here’s the LINK for info. I may get out my paints and give it a shot. Daily prompts are not likely to be my thing, but I can work on a project I have put off.

4. Poet’s Connection Meetup has been going well. We met last Saturday and it always makes me smile to get together with poets. We talked about Sonnets and shared some we wrote or found.

5. Daughter is back to volunteering. There are mom rules and thrift store rules she has to follow. She does love to do the work and right now her own job is slow. I am grateful she has this productive way to spend her time.

6. Tax season will be over July 15. With the exception of extension, that is. So, there is light at the end of the calculator.

7. Poetry Dive – I have participated in another Poetry Dive for the month of June. It is like a family reunion with this group as many of us are returning poets. Fortunately, I stay connected through other groups members are a part of and have become social media friends so we can stay connected. It is always sad to see it end. That means good things happened.

8. The IRS…huh? Yes, you heard me right! I am grateful that for the first time in a good while I was able to reach the IRS and talk to a real person about a matter. I feel answered and listened to and all is well.

9. Books. I am grateful to be able to read. It’s a blessing and I have several on a pile to dig into.

Ten Things of Thankful – June 26 2020

Good Morning! Welcome to TTOT! Let’s hop to it!

Happy Summer! WooWee! It’s warm enough that gardens should be very happy, especially after the wet spell. So YAY!
Father’s Day was specially nice and we celebrated with a surprise lunch and a nice day of relaxing.
It has been a busy week of getting back into the groove of writing and editing. I am grateful. I went a whole week without writing a poem and my muse rewarded me with lots of inspiration on Monday.
Writing sprints! It’s a thing. I used to do them with two other women and they were super productive. I found a couple of them on Meetup and got a lot accomplished. It is a great way to plug in to work on projects of my own and I was rewarded with good roughs of work. So, how it works is that you sign up, of course, then you chat for about 10 minutes and talk about goals and stuff. Then the moderator sets a timer for 25 minutes. Then you break for 5 minutes. And then you go back to writing. You cycle this for as long as pre-set. The end is a catch up to see how it went and chatting for a few minutes. It was about 3 hours we did and that was perfect. It is virtual.
Pretty little things. I did a random stop at a nearby fabric shop. I found some cute fabric for masks. And they had the good kind of elastic. So, I have it cut and ready to sew.

6. Poet’s Connection is Saturday. I am grateful for a nice turnout to come and in the past. We are going to talk about Sonnets!

7. Daughter did well with her colonoscopy. No issues and good for 5 years. So Super Grats!!

8. The birds have made a nest on our outside shelves, inside a bag containing our Christmas star. It’s a big star and we put it in a large garbage bag. There was an opening and the birds decided to make a nest. So, we need to leave them be. Before long, they will leave and the nest will be abandoned. I think it’s super resourceful of nature to use what is available. It’s like a birdie condo. Listening to the chirping is sweet music to my ears. They are small, and I think they are wrens. They move so quickly, I cannot get a good enough view.

9. The pool is supposed to open soon. Honestly, though, if it does not because of the virus, I am okay with it. I would rather be healthy. And we still go walking so that’s a.o.k.

10. This is the place where you can add to the thankfuls. Won’t you be my neighbor?

Ten Things of Thankful – May 15 2020

It’s TTOT time! Let’s go there, right now!

1. Who is that masked man/woman/child? It would be us! I am grateful for masks. I made some by hand and they aren’t too shabby. Daughter must have one for work and I made some of socks and then 2. the AAA guy gave one to my sweetie. Guess he didn’t love the sock (the AAA man). I need to make a couple more as daughter needs them for work and she has to alternate because of washing. 3. I am grateful she brought home fabric and notions so I could make them.

4. See the picture on this blog up there? That would be the scene of this weekend, but we are not ready to venture out. But! It is beautiful weather, so we can still go out and about with careful social distancing and masks, so YAY!!

This happened! I received my signed copy this week from Arlene Bice. Editor of this book of anthologies. She put her heart and soul into making this happen. Here is her blog: Purple Stone Blog. Five of my poems were published in this anthology. You can click on the pic to see more. I am grateful for Arlene.

7. SLEEP! I got some sleep this week.

8. Cardinals and birds, in general. While working on something challenging I heard this loud chirping and looked out the window and saw this brillant red cardinal. I think he was trying to tell me to keep at it, it will work out! Thank you!

9. ZOOM rooms and Google Hangout! This is the bestest thing for meetings! I have been able to meet with others at places I cannot get to. WOOHOO!!

Ten Things of Thankful – April 17 2020

Good Morning on this second day after tax day, but who’s sweating? Since tax day has changed to July 15 this year, it’s not quite the same. My favorite accountant said that in all the years he has been a CPA he has never seen this happen. We celebrate anyway as it’s always great to celebrate moments in our lives. And create our own kind of celebrative reasons. So, that is a #1 for thankfuls this week. #2 is that there have been opportunities to help with tax season. #3 is that it is lovely springlike (if not autumn) weather and walks are possible. #4 is that daughter is back to work-being very cautious with masking and gloves-and she is happy. #5 is that this is National Poetry Month and yours truly has been able to post prompts on this blog every day and a poem to the prompt. #6 is that despite chills and acheyness and a slight cough I believe I am only affected by my own usual ailments and not the one of which I will not speak. #7 is that my friend who is visually impaired has found a treatment which is helping with dry eyes and other benefits, hoping it sticks. #8 my other friend has been feeling much better in the migraine and depression departments. #9 grocery stores have senior hours for which I qualify. #10 is YOU and while you are here, how about stopping by.
