Hard Pressed is OUT!

Hard Pressed, LaVan Robinson’s latest book of prose poetry is now available. You can get your copy on Amazon.com

Hard Pressed is a book of poetry by LaVan Robinson. A seasoned poet who has several poems and books published; this is the book of books. What makes life hard? What is pressing on the mind? What are the concerns in society that keep us up at night? It is hard, in a society driven by fear, to find ways to resolve issues. It takes open, honest communication with those whom we live close, with our daily contacts, with the authorities, and the powers of us. We the people of this society can make choices to enact change. This can be through several means. Hard Pressed – flavors of a society through the eyes of humanity explores and offers poetic prose thoughts of the poet.

Evening Falls

Evening Falls

evening falls and so do I
into sleep, early in the night
mother nature says “good night”
controls are remote, out in the sky

sonnets clear the worries now
today will turn into tomorrow
just about when my eyes may wiggle
my muse comes to me with a giggle

morning calls me up to write
I bid goodbye to this last night
for today, I will stay on task
another sweet evening is all I ask

For Emma L. Sembly, every story teaches a lesson, and every life is a story.Emma is a life-long storyteller and lover of stories. As a child, Emma loved telling fantastical tales, starting with a captive audience consisting of her little sister. After she grew up, Emma continued to create stories that her students loved. With a bachelor's degree in psychology from Elmhurst College and a master's degree in reading from Johns Hopkins University, Emma set out on a thirty-seven-year journey as an educator in the Baltimore City Public School System, where she taught children with different abilities on both elementary and high school levels. During that time, she also created stories for her own daughter and niece, then for her grandchildren and great nieces. Now, Emma creates stories for children of all ages, especially the young at heart.Emma also has a podcast, Just Folks: Conversations with Emma, in which she provides a platform where regular, everyday humans can share their own stories with listeners of all persuasions. Life lessons shared.Drawing and writing poetry are among Emma's favorite things to do. She also enjoys planting red flowers around her home. Now that I have your attention… I am excited to share that my friend and fellow blogger, Deanna Martinez has a new cookbook coming out and it is all about COOKIES!!!

Deanna tells about it in her blog post: Family History and traditions with Author Deanna Martinez-Bey

OKAY! Maybe I am spoiled because I already have Deanna’s Cheesecake cookbook…so there is that…

Here’s what I like about Deanna’s recipes:

They are easy to follow

The ingredients are practical

The recipes are created by someone who has proven herself in the food world

So…you might want to check out her new book:

This is totally voluntary and I am not even getting cookies for telling about it…at least, I don’t think I am…”Oh…Deanna…!”
