Ten Things of Thankful – June 19 2020

Welcome to the TTOT for this week! Let’s get to it!

  1. Daddy would have been 100 on June 18. I am grateful to have had him for a father and that he is always looking after me from the other side.

2. We got to go to the beach for a day and it was so refreshing and we cooked fresh shrimp when we got home. It was wonderful to see how the beachgoers practiced social distancing. The place where we ate was our first time in a restaurant since this pandemic. We were the first customers, wore masks until we were free of others, were way over six feet from others (an advantage of being first customers). The wait staff and cooks all wore masks, as well. We set up out chairs and umbrellas on the upper tier of the beach, so we were on top looking down to the ocean. It was a great view, but kept us in a safety zone.

Jodi is happy to be at the beach

3. 4. Progress with repairs in the home. They are maybe going to finish up today with putting up drywall from the repairs. There is now a new shower handle unit. Thankful, as well, that there is a second shower.

5. For the most part, I have not done any work related stuff this week, taking a break to reset my brain.

6. Beautiful flowers along the highway. North Carolina does a fantastic job of planting flowers alongside the interstates, making lovely pops of color along the way. Some know I do not favor interstate driving, but it is good when trying to just get somewhere faster than the back roads. One of my most favorite things is to go backroading, taking in all the awesome sights. I especially enjoy the old buildings and the wildflowers, farm lands, and the old time charm you often miss on the interstate.

7. Bathrooms while traveling.

8. Sanitary disinfectant cloths.

9. Fun with cardmaking with daughter. With the rainy days of staycation, we worked for two days on making cards.

10. You – what have you to share? Join in!

Ten Things of Thankful – June 12 2020

Good Morning and Welcome to TTOT where we take a moment once a week and reflect on the thankfulness of the week prior. Let’s get at it.

  1. Today is the beginning of our “staycation.” We are still home bound, but we are not going to work. We have plans to make the most of it all. I am grateful we are having a break.
  2. Editing – I am grateful to have the honor of editing some very fine works this week. One of the perks is to be able to read other’s works be entertained before I get out the red pencil. As some of you know, I do not edit my TTOT posts. This is the main time I go freestyle. I am grateful I can be free to be me.
  3. Daughter is here and helps with tech support. She’s quite good at solving if headsets are wonky and other things. Could be because she lives with hers attached to her ears. She recently upgraded to a bluetooth, noise-canceling headset and, believe me, it works. She talks on her phone and listens to music every chance she gets.
  4. Maintenance is great! We have a leak from our shower plumbing and I should say had a leak because they replaced the unit. Today, we hope to have the drywall replaced. I am grateful that when we call about water leaks they come running!
  5. Comfortable clothes since I am at home. Sure wouldn’t want to wear heels and hose and makeup. HA
  6. Renovations are close to being completed at our clubhouse and that means it won’t be much longer before the pool is usable. It’s a requirement to have bathrooms available for the pool to be used. Well, yeah. No tinkling in the pool, please.
  7. Life.

  10. Won’t you come to the table and share? undefined

Ten Things of Thankful – May 29 2020

It’s that time again for Ten Things of Thankful! Hard to believe it’s already the end of May, but with ends come beginnings. Let’s see what’s happened and what’s to come!

  1. This ends the month of many activities, mostly indoors, but good activities. I have had opportunities to participate in old skill projects as well as develop newer skills. All in all, it’s been a great month for getting things done. I am most thankful for learning and growing. We are never too old to learn new things.
  2. I participated, by now, in three poetry critique groups and these have been helpful in my becoming a better poet. Since the meetings, I have polished my work and hope to eventually submit these for other eyes in the publishing sector.
  3. Last night, I was in the audience for poetry readings for the Heron Clan poetry publication. While I submitted, but my work was not accepted, it was nice to hear from others who did get published, many of whom were published thrice. It is always great to be among my people in the poetry world.
  4. Poet’s Connection is going well and I look forward to each meeting. We are doing the virtual meetings monthly and whenever we get back to face to face I would still like to do the virtual meetings. It provides opportunities for folks who are a greater distance to join.
  5. Poetry editing is going well and I am in the midst of helping with a big project.
  6. Daughter has gotten me hooked into helping her with card making. Such a chore, I say tongue in cheek. Seriously, it is fun to help her. I am more the consultant for selecting colors and layout. She provides the parts, stamped and colored pictures.
  7. Grateful for food as it can be a challenge to shop. Meat limitations as they are I am grateful I know how to make meatless meals.
  8. Raleigh NC Bloggers help keep me spirited, providing support to on another. YAY for support.
  9. Thank you Word Press for making me need two cups of coffee to figure out the new editor. I am sure it will be better, so really, I may as well be grateful. Now, I must be less lazy, so that’s a good grat, right?
  10. YOU! Come to the campfire and share you gratitudes!

It’s TTOT time! Let’s go there, right now!

1. Who is that masked man/woman/child? It would be us! I am grateful for masks. I made some by hand and they aren’t too shabby. Daughter must have one for work and I made some of socks and then 2. the AAA guy gave one to my sweetie. Guess he didn’t love the sock (the AAA man). I need to make a couple more as daughter needs them for work and she has to alternate because of washing. 3. I am grateful she brought home fabric and notions so I could make them.

4. See the picture on this blog up there? That would be the scene of this weekend, but we are not ready to venture out. But! It is beautiful weather, so we can still go out and about with careful social distancing and masks, so YAY!!

5. 6.
This happened! I received my signed copy this week from Arlene Bice. Editor of this book of anthologies. She put her heart and soul into making this happen. Here is her blog: Purple Stone Blog. Five of my poems were published in this anthology. You can click on the pic to see more. I am grateful for Arlene.

7. SLEEP! I got some sleep this week.

8. Cardinals and birds, in general. While working on something challenging I heard this loud chirping and looked out the window and saw this brillant red cardinal. I think he was trying to tell me to keep at it, it will work out! Thank you!

9. ZOOM rooms and Google Hangout! This is the bestest thing for meetings! I have been able to meet with others at places I cannot get to. WOOHOO!!
