Coloring the Day into Night

Coloring the Day into Night

Coloring the sails with clouded light

Drifting to the sea blue green white foaming

Living in the lifeboat made for you and me

And now we will know freedom

Every walkway shadowed

Sanded with the substance of pinks

Glassine with shimmery powders

Gasping for air and sinking

Grasp my hand and pull me up

Let me stay beside my ever more

Sipping from the silver chalice

Once more to know sweet ardor

Communion is not for the crowds

But for the one who partakes

A personal commitment to being more

Yet to be more is to be less

Ten Things of Thankful – April 10 2020

Jodi Daughter with Easter Eggs 2018

Happy Easter and Welcome to Ten Things of Thankful or TTOT. Kristi keeps us going each week with reminders to always be thankful for all that we have. Without further delay, let’s get at it.

1. 2. 4 National Poetry Month
I am grateful for the birds who sing when we are taking walks and for National Poetry Month. Most of you may know I am doing prompts on this blog on a daily basis and a poem dedicated to the prompts, as well. Some are joining in and I am so happy to see this. It is a lot of fun to come up with ideas.

3. Have fun! I created this in 2018 for day 8, but who’s worried about details 😉 Have funnnn!! I am grateful for fun. We tease a lot around here and that means you are loved.

4. I found a pattern for masks made with socks, so I made us all masks. Now, time to break them in.

5. Dear heart bought me a new monitor so I am now up to the modern ages with two screens. I believe this will make a difference. It hooked up well with no hitches. And for a non tech person, I got the screens so they operate correctly.

6. The virtual world has come to roost. With the use of technology such as zoom rooms it is possible to see other people and work on our craft. Tonight, I am doing a virtual open mic. How awesome!!

7. 8. Order – today I organized my office space due to number 5 and also straightened up my art supplies. Now I feel freed up to create again. Daughter and I did this video where we drew bunnies. That was a lot a fun.

9. We have TP – that is something which as Next Door members we share about on the message board. We want to let each other know about paper findings. It’s a real life scavenger hunt without mosquitos.

10. YOU! Come sit at the table, color some eggs and share your news!

Color My World – National Poetry Month April 10 2020

My Post (5)

Greetings Poetic Warriors! It’s Friday and Day 10 of National Poetry Month. That makes 10 days of writing poetry and 1/3 of the way to the end. I’ve been having fun, but also challenged with the prompts. This picture up there is one from maybe last year or before.

For today’s prompt let’s write a colorful poem. It could be a poem about a certain color, color in general, a favorite color, what color means to you, etc. The blue sky is the limit, even if you paint it green! As we are getting close to weekend, let’s hop to it!

There are several other prompt sources and here are two: Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Asides and NaPoWriMo.

Looking forward to seeing your poetry in comments!

Retired

Retirement is an interesting term often used for people when they are older

Enlisting in new adventures can be fun and educational as well as uncomfortable

Taking each day as it comes helps when you have the luxury of such a treat

Instead many retirees are facing less than plentiful resources and need stimuli

Restlessness may come about when someone has less to live on than a dollar

Enrolling in programs is challenging and it matters to have help to console

Despite attempts to act as if all is well it is important to find means to the end

…..

This is a double acrostic, meaning the beginning and ended of each line is of the same letter. The read down view on either end is “retired” also the name of the poem, not that it has to be for any “rules.”

This is in response to the poetry prompt for this day #9 of National Poetry Month. You can see the prompt HERE
