Ten Things of Thankful – September 25 2020

Good Friday Morning! It’s time for TTOT!! Let’s do this!

  1. It is raining. I am happy for it. Fall is here. I am happy for that. Yay Rain, Yay Fall! I read, while editing that in the UK “Fall” is called “Autumn” and in the U.S. it is called “Fall.” Who knew? I will still be variable in what call it, depending on what I am writing. With haiku, I can see how it would be beneficial to use either, depending on syllables. Let’s see… Autumn rains falling – Fall has arrived shaking leaves – Soon to mulch gardens
  2. Oil change and state inspection went well, no issues. Yay for that! I was not worried, but you just never know when Silvia the Silver Civic might feel needy.
  3. Playing pool – in our newly renovated clubhouse they added a pool table. Since there are no people around, we played pool. We do enjoy playing pool and it’s nice it was available in a socially distanced environment. We go to the clubhouse on the weekend and get a beverage, watch HGTV and now play pool. The fact that we can do this without people around is a plus. Otherwise, we would not do this.
  4. The poem I wrote last week for TTOT, I worked on it and submitted it, and it was accepted for publication. Here is the published piece: Seasons of Renewal
  5. Tomorrow is the Poet’s Connection Poetry Reading and I am grateful to have a platform where I can present for a free trial.
  6. I read, this morning, about the property manager’s daughter’s memorial which is tomorrow. They have a Facebook page. It is a way to do acts of kindness in the memory of this young lady. You might want to check it out. Here is the link: Love From Paisley 2020
  7. I may have mentioned this before, but I am still thankful for Shut Up and Write which I participate in all over the country, including meeting people from other countries. Each group is a little different. We did have a local group but I don’t see them on there anymore. Maybe they decided to take a break. Here is the link for Shut Up & Write
  8. Steps are increasing. Each week we do step challenges and each week we exceed the prior week. This week is finishing out strong.
  9. Sunday is a non-committed day. We try to keep one day open where we can rest. It’s been working well for us. That is likely the day when special breakfast shows up or not, depending on the cook’s energy.
  10. And I a thankful for YOU! Would you like to join us for TTOT? Just click on the link and add your post. If you aren’t ready for this, just reply with what you are thankful for. And have a beautiful week.

Ten Things of Thankful – September 18 2020

Lose me now in the mists of the last rains of summer

kissing the edges of fall, warming my heart and soul

leaving behind the persevering dripples of sweat

opening the doors to the scents of mud sliming away

and earth once more recycles to a new season

oh fall, how you warm my soul and cool by brow

slink into my life, once more with hope

for yet another life of joy

and let the winter’s glow call me forth

but only after I gently pace the shadows of falling leaves.

Ten Things of Thankful – September 4 2020

Happy Friday and TTOT time!! Let’s do this!

  1. Thankful for outings and still the ability to social distance. We went to Shangri-La Little Stone Village here in NC. I found out about it from this article by Joel Haas on Walter. Here are some pics from our day hop.

2. My God Children finalized the sale of their townhouse, moved to a temporary space – which is super nice – and will be moving into their fresh built house in 2021. Yay!

3. I wrote an article for Love of Food and it was published this week. Here is the link: Make Salad with International Challenges

4. Daughter bought her first new sewing machine today. She had a machine before, but this is her brand spanking new one and it was so cool to sit while she learned from Lynn at the sewing machine store. I am picky about sewing machines and asked pertinent questions, but mainly daughter asked questions. In fact, I got up and walked around so they could get their lesson underway. Next project is to sew the masks which are ready to sew.

5. As a now online editor for a publication, I had an online meeting this week and it was so stimulating. A lot of new ideas are formulating.

6. My poem, which I worked so hard on and received awesome critique from the Living Poetry critique group, was published in Fine Lines for their Autumn 2020 publication.

7. Poet’s Connection is having a poetry reading on September 26. I am happy to see this get off the ground. Here is the link if you want to attend or know more: Meetup Link

8. I signed up for a podcast with Anchor and will start doing poetry podcasts soon. I need to find my quiet space, so that’s a goal. At least the podcast is free. I listen to podcasts on Spotify at night, when I can’t sleep. Maybe my own will help others sleep to the sound of poetry.

9. New Horizons of the good kind. We all get them and I am grateful for ours.

10. You! What’s your thankful? How about a share?

Ten Things of Thankful – August 28 2020

It’s that time of the week for TTOT! What? Yup! It’s that time again. So…let’s goooooo!

  1. Grocery pickup – I am trying a different store today to see how that one goes. They offered free pickup and a 20% discount plus I had a gift card and discounts. Saved about $40, so hey, I will take it. I am grateful to have this option since it’s sometimes hard to shop. This is one of my better days, but maybe it is best to test it out on a better day than to wait for a not so better day. Right? I think so.

2. I finished my special project! YAY! I was a judge for a writing contest. It was fun and interesting to read and respond to the many books.

3. Remote possibilities. You know how people say, “It’s a remote possibility that such and such will happen.” Well, now it has a different meaning. Now one might say, “It’s going to be done remotely.” Or is some form of more proper English. So, Remotely it is happening and I am happy to see it happening. And there is nothing remotely unusual about that. You see what I did here, right?

4. Good walking day. It’s been a pleasant week for strolling about.

5. Puzzles. Daughter has been keeping busy with them and loves them. She is working on Mystical Shimmer, Unicorn. It’s pretty and glittery.

6. My brother from another mother had nice test results this week! YAY!!

7. Miracles! Someone I know thought from all news shared that life was coming to an end and it turned around. YAY!

8. Freedom to listen and watch to the world and freedom to turn it off.

9. Education via the internet so we can still learn without getting all sick and stuff.

10. YOU!! Let’s hear it… I wanna know your thankfuls.
