It’s January! And 2020! WOW! We are ending a decade and holding hope and promise to this year. Before moving forward, let’s go back and review the week and find all the thankfuls. Would you like to join us? There’s a link at the bottom of this post and we would love more people to join us.

1. Weather! Oh My Goodness! Is it supposed to be Winter? You could have fooled me! Anytime I expect to see birds building nests. It’s hard to believe it is January. Last year, it was snowing in December and now I barely need a coat. I am going to enjoy it while it lasts.

2. Completed Projects – I finished a project, but I can’t share it just yet because it would spoil a surprise. I promise I will share it as soon as it’s done the proper surprising.

3. New Year’s Eve was lovely and my New Year looks promising. I also worked on projects and got a lot accomplished.

4. Art Studio – I was one of a group of one in the art studio at the older adult’s center, but that’s okay. I didn’t have a lack for workspace. I do hope others come because I enjoy the interactions. I did work on two pieces and drew out a third one for my book cover.

5.6.7. Neck Procedure went well. My good friend provided me with company and a ride and the opportunity to catch up over coffee before heading home. It’s a cauterization of the nerves in my neck. They did one side this time and will do the other side the next time. It was painful, but they did give me some calming down meds.

8. We had our last interpretation challenge this past week. I am sad to see it go away, but I understand. Here it the one I did: Eye of the Storm

9. Six Sentence Story – it’s still going strong and I always look forward to the challenge. Here’s this weeks When Crystals Melt

10. Curation – It has been awhile since I have been curated on Medium and this one was curated today in Poetry: Cactus Blossoms Show the Truth

And now it’s your turn! How about clicking on this link and sharing you thankfuls. It doesn’t have to be 10. It can be any number you choose.

Eye of the Storm

Searching Within

within the iris
deep within the calming soul
oceans stir to calm

Seeking the Source

taking task with life
opening the eyes for depth
waves within rush forth

Finding the Answers

bracing for the storm
what appears to be most calm
is stirring life’s force

Past, Present, Future

past present future
related or so it seems
surely leading forth
to find answers in our dreams
to know what is never seen

as it happened then
it was not known before when
there was just a thought
and it became more than what
would be a small idea

looking backwards first
looking at the moment now
looking forwardly
which way gives one the most pause
which way travels to our thoughts

does it matter not
if what was begat was got
casting doubts on what
was known not before it was
who knows but this old thought?

and on and on goes
the roll about of thinking
thoughts that had been thunk
when all along this playful
word thought process is folly

Stairway of Life

Stairs, when young were fun
adventurous as we crawled, then
ran up oh so fast
at four, I tumbled downstairs
it was my first memory

funny thing about
stairs, how they take us up and
down we go again
it’s kind of like life, you know
there are ascents and descents

taking the first steps
is such a challenge to do
also, to observe
cajoling along the way
making sure they climb safely

once they are alone
taking their own steps, choices
going up and down
how we want to be there and hold
hands out like we’re banisters

letting them go free
is one of the toughest things
but oh, so vital
to watch their independence
wishing they would hold your hands

holding them in hearts
keeping watch and being there
just enough to show
they have got this, and they know
you are going to be there

then there comes a time
when you’re not so much around
and they’re on their own
then you trust that all you’ve done
is enough and hope it’s true

and before you know
they are helping someone else
crawling up those stairs
holding hands and guiding them
it’s the circle of dear life

when you are the one
who needs help as you ascend
trusting they will be
holding you close in their hearts
and the world moves at your pace

you will know the life
as the descent comes for sure
where the light still shines
from the glow of your most dear
as you make that final climb

Cupids Circling

Cherubs run the place, lining up their arrows, careful not to blow their cover.

In total innocence is how they wish to keep their pursuits, sweetly unaware of any shenanigans.

Rounding the globe and looking for ways to reach all who they can in their circuit.

Careful not to split hairs and always looking to make toes curl, knowing life must go on.

Leaving it to chance is simply not any fun and so many depend on more than their common senses.

Easing their way about, the know that in the end, it’s really full circle with the target of the heart.
