Coloring the Day into Night

Coloring the Day into Night

Coloring the sails with clouded light

Drifting to the sea blue green white foaming

Living in the lifeboat made for you and me

And now we will know freedom

Every walkway shadowed

Sanded with the substance of pinks

Glassine with shimmery powders

Gasping for air and sinking

Grasp my hand and pull me up

Let me stay beside my ever more

Sipping from the silver chalice

Once more to know sweet ardor

Communion is not for the crowds

But for the one who partakes

A personal commitment to being more

Yet to be more is to be less

Morning Coffee – Retro April 2019

As sure as the alarm
could go off
It need not
as bones are aching
for a walk
Padding to the pot
filling the vessel
Pondering the day
pouring the water
sopping the slosh
Starting the pot
waiting and listening
What’s up with the brew
It Takes Coffee Grounds
to make coffee
If morning starts this way
it’s going to be a long day

The beginning prompt for the 2019 National Poetry Month was on Robert Lee Brewer’s blog HERE The above poem was my attempt to write to the prompt. Perhaps you would like to do the same.

Safety First, Honey Second

Engaging in the latest news, Terri was tired of all the drama, while at the same time she knew safety needed to be first and foremost. COVID-19 was not a virus to play around with and the whole state asked people to stay home.

Terri placed her less than clean feet in her slippers, gathering up the trash-which was overflowing-and carried it to the dumpster. Neighbors were out in the complex, talking up with one another, interacting with their neighbor’s children and dogs all while heading to the common grilling station.

Just then a storm of pollen blew as the wind picked up and Terri hurried back inside. Showering quickly due to the pollen, Terri made toast with honey, a cup of tea, grabbed her remote, and settled on the couch for what would be the safest plan for who knew how long.

There you have it! This is my Six Sentence Story for this week. A little late, but I am here.
