Therapy

Joan wrote in her journal every morning, first thing; studying her words, she became inspired to start her day.

Her therapist suggested she start this practice, that it would help her gain awareness about her life’s goals, figuring out a way to solve problems, one day at a time.

Pausing for a bit, after entering her thoughts this morning, Joan pondered what her next step would be.

Gathering her jacket and calling Mitchell, her mutt, off they went for a walk about the woods; how she loved watching him run once they reached the woods.

Taking in the calm lawns of houses on the way to the woods, then met by the woodsy scents of the forest, she wrapped her heart in hopes for a better day.

Joan could not say for certain, but it may have been a mixture of the journal, her mutt, and the walk where she made her best decisions for each day, but she was grateful.

“had sipped the moments of light”

Susi Bocks's avatarI Write Her

Author note: These are six short poems compiled into two linked threads of three poems each, in free verse.

thin as light

holding her
thin as light
as she looks
the other way

there is nothing to do
as the world spins
and we lie there
in the softness of a rug

until the final shade
had sipped the moments of light
into a soft-touch fade
within the arms of night

midnight gardens

in the world
beneath the moon
where secrets
shall never leave
the doors we close

we follow the path
where the spirits play
until we see
neither wrong nor right

unable to leave
until the morning lines
have drawn the world
once more in the mist
of breaking light

Ten Things of Thankful – June 5 2020 7th Anniversary Edition

It’s been probably over a year since I was introduced to TTOT by Wendy And it’s been on every since! Thank you to my dear friend for introducing me to the blog. It’s been 7 years since TTOT began and the current person who keeps us going is Kristi. I am thankful for this blog and the relationships I have built with other bloggers here. So, that is my #1. Thankful for this week is I am thankful for TTOT. Kristi has extended to me the honor of posting access links to the bloghop each week. Thank you, Kristi for trusting me with this and for being a true friend. #2 Thankful is for this week. Well, it’s been one of the toughest weeks on the emotions of not only the U.S. but the world. I am thankful that I can ask for all of us to take a moment of silence to honor those lost and their families and friends as there is more grief than one can imagine, yet there is so much more than grief, there are a whole gamut of emotions. As one who can usually find the words, I have struggled with this one. When the heart is stuck in the throat, it’s hard to verbalize. Let us hope and that is the best word I can think of is HOPE for healing, progress, and eternal salvation for the damages done in this world. I am reminded of the scriptures: Matthew 5:9 Even if you are not a believer in the scriptures, perhaps the words will still mean something.

Aching of the Soul

Photo by Jonathan Meyer on Unsplash

Such a passion for life, he had heartfelt goals; raising his daughter to become a confident woman; he lived his life to become the best man for his family; he saw the worth of souls and was a shining light to those who knew him.

Now, he is gone.

Just like that; He has been preparing his entire life for his homegoing; but it was not to be his time, just yet. He had two daughters and a son to live out his life for, to witness their walks of life, yet he is gone.

A man’s last words became his call to live and just like that he was denied. I envision his mother heard him and took him in her arms; and while his life on earth is over, let not his soul be wasted, let not his purpose be forgotten, and may we only hope to walk down the aisles of life with the passion of this man, this man who wanted to breathe.
