If Today is Sunday

If today is Sunday
it means that I will sleep
maybe until 7 a.m.
such a wild one as I am

If today is Sunday
my breakfast would be the same
but coffee would be longer drank
making the morning bliss last

If today is Sunday
my mind would go to things not work
but to the world as if in peace
and wondering what part I play

If today is Sunday
my time with family would be more relaxed
no duties to call my name
just chilling into the mood

If today is Sunday
a nap may call my name
a book may keep me company until I doze
and then it’s time for supper

leftovers will grace the table
life will lend spontaneity
and chilling would be the mood

If today is Sunday
my bedtime will be the same
as any weekday night
and I would rest in knowing this day was a delight

Historically Speaking

How much of what we say is going to happen is ironic
some go about predicting the future
and then looking back what was said would happen
has happened before they said it would
so how much is yet to be and has already happened
so predicting may be accurate or premature
history is in the making
whether it has already been made in prediction
or has been planned to make it come true

or just let it happen

or is there another point of view
historically speaking
it has happened before
do you remember this to be true

For today’s prompt let’s try a history poem. It could be about an important to you time in history, it could be about what we would say about these current days if these days were history, it could even be fake history such as creating your own version of history. It can be anything you wish it to be. I have ideas and just not sure which will land on these pages today.

Circling to my Soul

Around the turntable the vinyl spins, the little circle spindled
Needles tracking and magically, sounds of Kansas reach my ears
Dust in the Wind plays to my soul, creating thoughts and sending electric vibes
Dropping another hit mix to the table Janis belts out her heart
Cat waits his turn while I sing along with my girl
And this is how it is when music speaks to my soul
