Today is Earth Day! So, naturally we will use this as our prompt for today! Let’s write a poem about the earth, what it means to you, how it is changing, is it better or not, whatever you feel inclined to write about. And please do share!

Happy Writing and Happy Earth Day!

An Always Kind of Thing

it’s in the here and now
when we have the time
to bring forth cheerful thoughts
and leave the days with sighs

with you near my heart
I feel my soul incline
it’s been there from the start
and always part of life

any day of the month
and as the months move by
the years they count for more
and make this life all right

…..

This is my response to writing lyrically. I took Ronnie Milsap’s “Almost Like A Song” and thought of these words to that tune.

Let’s Get Lyrical – National Poetry Month

Let’s write a lyrical poem. There have been a few times when I have written a poem which I thought could be put to music. Since I do not write music, I would need someone who does this to collaborate with me. Let’s give it a shot! Remember it doesn’t have to rhyme to become a song. Listen to some songs and you will hear what I mean. Of course, please do share your poem in comments by the poem or link. Thank you!

Love is Love

Love is Love

If you knew my thoughts
my feelings
and sighs
then why did you do nothing

You saw my tear filled orbs
as you called them
my sighs were met
with your confident grins
and yet you did not speak
those words I longed to hear

As the world is your oyster
it is also mine
shedding tears over loss
which cannot be validated
is such a waste

Instead I will use those orb filled tears
to water the garden
to then clearly see the roses
and clip the carnations
making a bouquet of the truth
that love needs not so much words
but the feelings to back up the soul

This poem was in response to my Daily Prompt

If-Then – National Poetry Month April 20 2020

My dear mother used to say “If a frog had wings then he wouldn’t bump his but.” It was usually in response to some lame excuse I was coming up with. Let’s try an “If-Then” poem. In the poem you would propose “If…” and respond, whenever it fits, with “then.” If you write a poem for this prompt, then please let me know. You can put it in the comments. If so, then I will be so appreciative.
