she is scooped up by the abrasive desert wind the forced settlement cannot break her spirit in her arid bed sleeps her shallow roots
she is thirsty for life the desert rain is often light and brief too sudden and too short lived for most for her, she thrives in conditions others wither
she despises mediocre the desert sun is scorching and wearing long suffering brings out her vibrancy nature trials her with extreme heat and cold she births uplifting pigments to protect her fragile pose
she is beaten by the violent sandstorm leaf scorched, foliage torn, uprooted it seems that she has nothing left to fight until she senses the coming of fog and tastes the sweetness of dew

Poet’s Connection was started before the pandemic changed lives. We met in person in Raleigh NC and from then on became virtual. We have participated in many activities to strengthen our lives as poets. With workshops, such as the one conducted by Justine Quammie last month, to learning poetic forms, writing to art inspired themes, and supporting each other, Poet’s Connection has been a lot of things to the area poets.
By presenting these poets from other parts of the country, we are able to hear words from as far as California, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota. Nonetheless, our own poets will have opportunities to share their works, as well.
We are grateful for Living Poetry, the largest network of poets in the area. They organize the Meetup events for Living Poetry, run a great website livingpoetry.net Facebook Page Living Poetry and Podcast. I encourage you to check out these resources.
Here is the link for Meetup on September 26 at 10 a.m. ET to noon.
It is preferred that attendees register for the Meetup event. If this is not possible, please message me via the Contact form on this blog and I will follow-up.
Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories! What a fabulous turnout last week! Thank you everyone for another incredibly fun Six Sentence Story hop 😀 So about this week’s prompt word… Have to admit there was another word queued. At the very last minute, out of the gorgeous azure blue, the prompt word you see below, was drop kicked onto my laptop and began to dance, lol. Not sure yet what I’ll do with it but then, that’s what makes this writing challenge so enjoyable, right ?! 6 sentences. We only need 6 of them. That’s all. Have a fabulous week and write, write, write and then write some more… Read you soon!
Rules of the hop: Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Return here, link your post Wednesday night through Saturday late… Spread the word…
