A dear relative is moving to a place that is going to be more appropriate for their needs. I am grateful for resources to make this happen and for people who pitch in and invest their time and energies.
Daughter is back on the work schedule after a break.
A nameless friend is getting much needed medical help and I am over the moon with joy!
Another relative from another mother is healing well from a serious injury.
My niece WON and got a lovely 1-year old husky named “K.C” for Kansas City as in sports teams.
It’s Inktober and I am happy to get out my drawing pens and play. I’ll likely do a post periodically.
Podcast is going well. I posted about it yesterday. I am not perfect, by any means, but it is fun to do these interviews and get to know other poets.
YOU! It’s time to hear about what’s going on in your lives. So, let’s have it! What October happies are you stirring up in the pot of goodness and hope?
Good Friday Morning! It’s time for TTOT!! Let’s do this!
It is raining. I am happy for it. Fall is here. I am happy for that. Yay Rain, Yay Fall! I read, while editing that in the UK “Fall” is called “Autumn” and in the U.S. it is called “Fall.” Who knew? I will still be variable in what call it, depending on what I am writing. With haiku, I can see how it would be beneficial to use either, depending on syllables. Let’s see… Autumn rains falling – Fall has arrived shaking leaves – Soon to mulch gardens
Oil change and state inspection went well, no issues. Yay for that! I was not worried, but you just never know when Silvia the Silver Civic might feel needy.
Playing pool – in our newly renovated clubhouse they added a pool table. Since there are no people around, we played pool. We do enjoy playing pool and it’s nice it was available in a socially distanced environment. We go to the clubhouse on the weekend and get a beverage, watch HGTV and now play pool. The fact that we can do this without people around is a plus. Otherwise, we would not do this.
The poem I wrote last week for TTOT, I worked on it and submitted it, and it was accepted for publication. Here is the published piece: Seasons of Renewal
I read, this morning, about the property manager’s daughter’s memorial which is tomorrow. They have a Facebook page. It is a way to do acts of kindness in the memory of this young lady. You might want to check it out. Here is the link: Love From Paisley 2020
I may have mentioned this before, but I am still thankful for Shut Up and Write which I participate in all over the country, including meeting people from other countries. Each group is a little different. We did have a local group but I don’t see them on there anymore. Maybe they decided to take a break. Here is the link for Shut Up & Write
Steps are increasing. Each week we do step challenges and each week we exceed the prior week. This week is finishing out strong.
Sunday is a non-committed day. We try to keep one day open where we can rest. It’s been working well for us. That is likely the day when special breakfast shows up or not, depending on the cook’s energy.
And I a thankful for YOU! Would you like to join us for TTOT? Just click on the link and add your post. If you aren’t ready for this, just reply with what you are thankful for. And have a beautiful week.
Freedom and the ability to help others. For those of us who have it, we can help those who do not.
Imagination – where would we be without it? It is often my way of coping, to seek hope when I sometimes feel overwhelmed. And imagine what life would be if we looked outside ourselves. Even though, if we choose to give, we do it for compassion and, frankly, because it feels good to do good.
3. Ability to go to the beach and clear my head. The perfect overcast day with bonus of natural social distancing (talking sparse after Labor Day).
Topsail Beach NC I have not read this book, but must since I go to Topsail as “my” beach.
4. Getting Steps In! We are doing a steps challenge and getting more than our steps in each day and it is showing up on the scales. I feel miserable from COVID weight and hope to get back to the pre-COVID weight ASAP. I have very few taste buds working (no, it’s not COVID-it’s been this way for a good year) and instead of using that for an excuse not to eat as much, I actually seek something to satisfy what buds I have. The good news is that I had a reboot to at least a 50% upgrade on my buds this week and I don’t know why, but it was pleasant. What I understand about getting older is that this could happen. I just want to be healthy.
My step team!
5. Virtual Meetings – I love these meetings! Even if it were not for the pandemic, I would have loved to see this a long time ago. I don’t usually like going out in the dark. It’s a vision thing. And I normally am in bed by 9. With the virtual meetings, they may sometimes run later, but I am at home, so there’s that. Keep on zoooooming, as far as I am concerned. I could list at least 10 reasons to do meetings this way. How about you?
6. Daughter bought her sewing machine and a sewing table. It fits well in her room and today we got some baskets to put on the shelves. She already has masks cut out and other projects in mind. It warms my heart to see her take on sewing, like this.
This is the one she bought and it looks just as pretty!
7. All the people working on the fires out West. Prayers going up for all in need.
8. Checking things off my long check list and setting aside time for me to do this.
9. Bargain prices on food. Don’t you just love it when something you like becomes affordable?
10. You! What’s on your week’s thankful list? Let’s hear about it. Join the party. Want to “ZOOM”?
Thankful for outings and still the ability to social distance. We went to Shangri-La Little Stone Village here in NC. I found out about it from this article by Joel Haas on Walter. Here are some pics from our day hop.
2. My God Children finalized the sale of their townhouse, moved to a temporary space – which is super nice – and will be moving into their fresh built house in 2021. Yay!
4. Daughter bought her first new sewing machine today. She had a machine before, but this is her brand spanking new one and it was so cool to sit while she learned from Lynn at the sewing machine store. I am picky about sewing machines and asked pertinent questions, but mainly daughter asked questions. In fact, I got up and walked around so they could get their lesson underway. Next project is to sew the masks which are ready to sew.
5. As a now online editor for a publication, I had an online meeting this week and it was so stimulating. A lot of new ideas are formulating.
6. My poem, which I worked so hard on and received awesome critique from the Living Poetry critique group, was published in Fine Lines for their Autumn 2020 publication.
7. Poet’s Connection is having a poetry reading on September 26. I am happy to see this get off the ground. Here is the link if you want to attend or know more: Meetup Link
8. I signed up for a podcast with Anchor and will start doing poetry podcasts soon. I need to find my quiet space, so that’s a goal. At least the podcast is free. I listen to podcasts on Spotify at night, when I can’t sleep. Maybe my own will help others sleep to the sound of poetry.
As a teacher, I will always remain a student. In the classroom of life, l wish to work with and educate others. Whether you’re a teacher, student, or just your average person, here are a few of my "TEACHERble" moments.
