Ten Things of Thankful – April 29 2022

Happy Friday and TTOT day! I took a bye week last week for a much needed staycation. Back in action (somewhat) as April winds down. Let’s do this!

  1. Fridays with the family are back with tax season slowing down and family life picking up.
  2. Daughter has a potential new opportunity with a program.
  3. We got haircuts because mullets are not a good look on us. No offense to mullet wearers, because if it’s a good luck, go for it.
  4. National Poetry Month has been – well – poetic. I was named the Poet Laureate for the Garden of Neuro Institute. The term is April to April. It is such an honor and I certainly could think of others more deserving.
  5. Planning is in session for a virtual women’s retreat in the fall.
  6. Write Now! is having their annual conference tomorrow. I am excited!
  7. We are in the planning for the Fine Lines Summer Camp
  8. Birds are showing great promise for Spring and the green has been especially luscious this year.
  9. Our staycation was relaxing. I will confess that I worked some, but it was not so much on the computer but is reading/editing on paper.
  10. YOU! What’s your April been like? Are your May flowers starting to stick their buds in your way?

Board Meeting of the Council of Cats

Mister Blaccatto led the board meeting of the Catpuccino Cat Club

Fluffy Fern who always sat close to Mister B called the club together

After minutes were read, Ms. Goldie suggested that the snacks should soon arrive and strutted in a restless fuss

Mr. Knee Sox kept to the edge of the board to allow for the first leap to treats

After the house stirred with two footed stomps the board commenced to a unified yowl

Meeting adjourned as they all ran to their bowls

This is my attempt of the Six Sentence Story prompt of “Board” You can join in the fun by going to Girlie on the Edge and entering and/or reading.

It’s TTOT time, so let’s hop to it.

  1. Spring has brought out the goslings, not Ryan, but the little baby geese who are so cute!
  2. Nest building has slowed, so I am guessing we will be seeing little baby birds before long.
  3. Newness, freshness, rainy days or nights leading to a certain harvest.
  4. Tax season ends the current phase on Monday. Other phases to come. But we will gladly accept a break.
  5. Opportunities to influence youth. I was asked and accepted advisor status for the youth of another country.
  6. Poetry 101 has ended the first round and we have graduates. It brings so much joy to work with poets. I learn as I teach. It is a win:win
  7. Despite #4, we will still have a nice dinner tomorrow.
  8. Groceries for #7
  9. Ability to cook.
  10. YOU What’s up with your feathery friends?

My Failure

My complete and utter failure
as a dancer, singer, actress
has not taken away my desire to perform.
Never the top dog or celebrity,
I have no history of gutter scraping
debauchery either. I’m firmly rooted
in the middle of the pack,
dying of obscurity and boredom.

I am not beautiful

but every now and then
I step out in my pearls and lace
and show off my plain face
as though
I am
beautiful.

Life Hurts

Learning to walk, or ride a bike
comes with boo-boos and bruises.
Prayer or wealth cannot save you
from stubbed toes and runny noses.

As we grow so do the blows
from failures, broken hearts, and funerals.

Embrace the pain like a caterpillar
that must dissolve into goo
before it gets wings.

To reach the other side
is to receive Grace.

My scars are old friends.
Pain…
