My experience was one of many when a hurricane caused us to start over. Donations from work and church helped with this experience. This required several acts of kindness. It was scary to feel homeless and people with hearts came through without our asking.

Honestly for me it’s something as simple as having a short conversation. When I go to my chiropractor he’s always friendly and willing to listen to me ramble on. Most people anymore do not want to have any kind of conversation and it creates a cold, inhumane world.

I love this. I’ve met the most interesting people the same way. I love to cheer up cashiers. I’ve been one and it’s such a wonderful spark to have kind customers.

Here in Greenwich Village, Ken, everyone loves to talk. But Manhattan has a unique pedestrian culture. Very few New Yorkers drive / own cars. So we are used to “rubbing shoulders” in The Big Apple and I think that’s a part of getting a conversation started. The city is “the town square.”

Every day I practice “good literary citizenship” by “feeding” other writers via curated tips and targeted info on publishing. EX: Recently, a colleague Charles Bastille was able to place a baseball story (in a paying market) because I sent him the “just in time” tip. That’s one example out of many. Kindness is my daily practice. – – LindaAnn LoSchiavo
