Ten Things of Thankful-March 8, 2024

Happy March and TTOT time! March isn’t really coming in like a lion, so I picked a calm looking lion in the photo. March is more like a smooth transition into spring in our area. We didn’t even see a teensy bit of snow. So, what’s happening in Thankfulville?

  1. I had a productive morning with my friend at a coffee shop. We focused on our own writing projects and supported each other by brainstorming and reviewing poems. I appreciated the chance to collaborate in person with someone who shared my goal. We both made significant progress.
  2. I enjoy grocery shopping very much. I appreciate that I can afford to buy groceries, even if the prices are not ideal. I like to read the labels carefully, so I spend a lot of time in the store. That’s why I usually go by myself. I don’t want to make others wait for me.
  3. I appreciate turn signals and their proper use. Today, someone honked at me when I made a right turn. I had signaled my intention well in advance, so I was puzzled by the honk. I checked my turn signal after parking and it was working fine. Maybe the other driver did not notice my signal or misunderstood my action. Instead of ranting, I want to be thankful. Perhaps my turn helped the other driver to wake up if they were sleepy or distracted. Maybe they had some personal issues on their mind. I hope they reached their destination safely and paid more attention to the road. I did them a favor by making them more alert. You’re welcome.
  4. During tax season, my sweetheart has to work longer hours. He comes home very hungry after work, so I always have his meal ready for him. I am grateful for his hard work and the support he provides for our family. I am also grateful he likes my cooking.
  5. My daughter needs a knee surgery. It’s not a replacement, but a kind of adjustment. I had a similar surgery when I was in my twenties. Back then, they had to make a large incision and leave a long scar. Now, it’s done with arthroscopy and she can go home the same day. I’m glad she won’t have to stay in the hospital or have a big scar. And I’m hopeful that this will help her feel better. She has suffered for a long time, and I hope this will be a positive change.
  6. Time seems to fly when I’m busy. It’s already March and I’ve had a lot to do. I appreciate the chance to collaborate with writers and assist them in achieving their objectives.
  7. I love attending the quarterly conferences by Fine Lines Literary Journal. In April, I will present a workshop titled “Tattoos on my soul.” This idea emerged from a brainstorming session with David Martin. We liked the phrase and decided to use it. It’s in production now, so I’m thankful for new opportunities.
  8. I am also grateful that people we have asked to present for the conference have all said “yes.”
  9. The dogwoods and other flowering trees display their blossoms, creating a beautiful spring scenery. We enjoyed a walk to appreciate their beauty before they fade away.
  10. How about you? What are you feeling grateful for this week? Or, if you’re like me and haven’t been here for a while, this month…
