Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
It’s with a little bit of sadness that I write. I began feeling so several days ago when I observed the subtle change in the morning’s light, this morning ever more so, as I realize today represents the end of summer *sigh*. It’s true! The calendar in this part of the hemisphere may read “First Day of Summer”, but for myself and others, it’s the end. Days will now become shorter. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, I appreciate your ear, which in this format, is reading. Which is what we do here at Six Sentence Stories when we’re not writing. Say what? Violets

Violets

It was just a remnant in the bargain bin.
Tiny violets were printed on a tight leno weave.
I cut the facings and carefully handled the fabric.
The most delicate effort produced a baby dress.
Violets for sweet Violet, the baby new to us.
A grand star in the soft light of dusk.

Ten Things of Thankful – June 18 2021

It’s TTOT Time and my Daddy’s 101st birthday all on the same day!

  1. That I had my father as long as I did and I know he is just on the other side of the veil.
  2. Father’s Day to remember Daddy and to celebrate my daughter’s blessings.
  3. That I was able to participate in a writer’s summer camp.
  4. A new to us apartment has been secured.
  5. People who offer to help.
  6. The pool.
  7. Humor.
  8. Juneteenth is a Federal Holiday.
  9. Life.
