She Loves Her Trains
Tracey always loved trains, from the mechanics to the power, she swelled with delight.
Reaching into the toy box for her brother’s train set, when they were out and about, she was excited.
Although she was a girl and girls didn’t play with boy’s toys, Tracey defied this as she played.
In a world where women were to have their certain roles, it did not make sense to Tracey.
Nowadays, Tracey is glad she can openly share her love for train, specifically train sets.
She has never had her own train set, but loves to visit places with trains and loves to ride the train.

I’m a toy collector and archivist of vintage toy adverts, and it’s funny looking at some of the old ads at how certain toys were pitched to the sexes. I’d say it’s more inclusive nowadays but there is still that element strongly dividing what should be sold to a boy and sold to a girl.
I always wanted a Barbie doll when I was a boy. As an adult… I now have two, plus two Barbie vehicles 😊😎

I am happy you got your Barbies. My sister and I had fun with ours and as a teen I made and sold doll clothes for them.

Train sets are such fun. We never had one, and i am sorry about that.

They still amaze me. I worked in the old Santa Fe office building overlooking the train yard, when I first worked as a counselor. I even put train art on my walls.

Tracey reminds me of me as a kid. Sure, I got an e-z bake oven one Christmas but I also really liked matchbox cars. Kids will like what they’ll like.
