National Poetry Month days 19-24

I have been away from my desk and did not take my laptop on purpose. It is good to unplug, refresh, and renew. I started today with an invitational assignment to post quotes that are meaningful to me. Now that I have posted that I am ready to jump back in to poetry. Poetry has been running in my head while I was gone. It pretty much is an integral part of my life. So, whenever I go and do things or simply sit and reflect, poetry just comes on in and invites itself to muse me along. Let me see if I can do it justice. I am going to hit this post with a catch up. That means I am going to do a poetry marathon of six poems. So, coffee downed and water on the sidelines, let’s see how I do with this sprint.

Three Quotes

I have been asked by Wendy Holcombe, who does lovely posts for her blog: Picnic With Ants

There are certain steps to making this happen and I quote these steps from Wendy:

“Here’s how this thing works:

1. Thank the person that nominated you.

2. Write one quote each day for three consecutive days (3 quotes total)

3. Explain why the quote is meaningful for you.

4. Nominate three bloggers each day to participate in the challenge”

I am going to do all three quotes on this one day because I have also the daily poetry challenge for National Poetry Month. I have been away from my desk for a few days so there is some catching up to do.

Here is my first quote and this is my own quote. I say this to myself often as I try to get past my own head to make things happen.

Quote #2 is from Norman Vincent Peale. I read his book, The Power of Positive Thinking, many years ago and it really helped me get past negativity. I still slip down that slope but not as much as I used to. I find myself quoting him often.

Lastly, in honor of the late Barbara Bush, First Lady and wise woman. I love this one the most because it speaks to what is important to me.

I would like to nominate the following bloggers who are among many of my favorites. It was hard to narrow down.

Cheryl Capaldo Traylor – Giving Voice to My Astonishment

Chanah Liora Wizenberg – Penwize

Missy Cheney Farrow – Midlife Margaritas

If unable to participate, please share a favorite quote in the comments, if you can.

Thanks so much!
