To finish out March like a lamb

Stop and read this. Poetry to love!
My poem For a Distant Muse appeared on Spillwords earlier today. It might seem familiar to regular readers since I posted it here last year but it still deserves some views on their platform. Some might even press the little heart button to indicate approval. A Spillwords account is not needed to give me a little love.
My gratitude to Dagmara and all the folks at Spillwords for accepting my work.
This made me smile and feel hopeful for spring.
Today is the 215th anniversary of Elizabeth Barrett Browning‘s birth. Earlier this week I spent some time online with the good folks of Charles House talking about Mrs. Barrett Browning’s poetry. As is our tradition, we wrote a little poem together inspired by her and by the budding spring outside our windows. It was a sonnet, of course.
Spring Sonnet
Piercing through soil
and last autumn’s leaves
pale green swords
greet the spring
Wrens sing to unborn flowers
crocus and daffodil
listen on the warm breeze
melting the last of the frost
Yellow flags unfurl
covered in dew
this bright morning
dawn a new year
Hemispheres aligned with the sun
spring for us has finally sprung
This is an event I cannot wait for!!

Just like in the old days when poets came together, perhaps imbibed, or had some coffee, and talked about the problems of the world and how they would use poetry to speak their minds. This is a Coffee Table Talk.
We will have a select group of panelists:
Susi Bocks
Chyrel J. Jackson
Maxima Kahn
LaVan Robinson
For this event, Susi Bocks will be sharing about her anthology of poetry as well as some of the poets involved will share their poetry.
We will also be talking about using poetry for social change.
Lisa Tomey will be the moderator.
Audience participation is encouraged after the panel discussion.
About Our Panelists:
Susi Bocks, writer/author/poet, has self-published two books – “Feeling Human” and “Every Day I Pause” and is the Editor of “The Short of It,” which she is…

another great week with another great prompt!
Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
Why do we do the things we do? Why? Now, let’s ask that question of our characters. What is their motivation? What compels them? Do their actions fully define who they are? Will their actions have an effect on others? And what about our poetry? I believe there are way many more poets who have yet to write a Six Sentence Story poem. Back in the day, writing on pads, I abhorred the idea of letting anyone read my words of poetry. What if they laughed! Thought my words sucked?! Fear. It’s insidious. Let’s not feed the monster. Each week, I extend an invitation to contribute precisely 6 sentences of fiction, fantasy, poetry… our creative selves, to this growing community of writers. If we do not write, we cannot improve. If we are already good…
