Speechless at the Oasis
Crossing hot dunes to
Cool, grasses calming my feet
Heat radiates free
Grasping the well of coolness
Soothing leathered throats with drink
Lovers are speechless

You so set the mood with the picture. The poem is a lightly falling afternoon rain in the middle of a drought. Nice 🙂

What a line: “Soothing leathered throats with drink”. The ending is perfect. Great poem, Lisa!

I love Maria Mauldar. Great six. (John the Generator is her best song.)

Yeah, what Denise said. I can totally feel the cool grasses, such relief after the hot dunes. (And I have had that song in my head since Denise put this prompt out…)

This reminds me of the Bible and its love of good water — there’s nothing like being without water in the heat of a desert land to make you appreciate it. Excellent.

Great six! I could feel every word.
I was in junior high when that song came out. Had no idea of the sexual undertones at the time!

There isn’t anything quite as hot as scorching hot sand dunes on tender bare feet and finally reaching the cooler areas, the grass or the tide pools for respite.
Nice poetic SSS.
