My Failure

My complete and utter failure
as a dancer, singer, actress
has not taken away my desire to perform.
Never the top dog or celebrity,
I have no history of gutter scraping

Then Susan and the ideator, Nanci Arvizu, seasoned veterans of Medium, started talking to me about creating a Blogging course. I blog on WordPress, and was glad to use my instructional design and facilitation background to create a…

Charms

Carmen chose her bracelet and made a list of charms

Her list grew far too long, yet her desires did not wane

After she completed her list, she handed it to him.

Ready to please her, he ran up his card to the max.

Moments passed and she decided that she wanted more.

She wrote a list and he took one look before he left evermore.

The Gift

Photo by Jonathan Petersson on Pexels.com

She grabbed a box and placed clothes, clean and neatly folded, for someone who could use them.

Each piece held meaning. Gentle shades of blue with striped rompers, cream colored bibs with embroidered farm animals, the kind he’d love to see.

She touched each piece again, catching her tears with the back of her hand.

She picked up the phone and called Halbert, the junk man, and asked him to stop by to pick up charity.

Halbert knew this was not the same as tossed out junk, as he not long ago picked up the baby furniture for Miss Maize, who also gifted him a real apple pie.
