Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories! It is a cold and rainy Sunday in my part of the world. A good writing day. Rain or not, every day is a good writing day, yes? 🙂 Whatever your plans, or no plans. Whoever may pop over for a visit or not, perhaps you will steal a little time for yourself and write a Six Sentence Story for this week’s new edition. If not complete a Six, perhaps lay the (no! don’t do it, don’t use the word 😆) groundwork for a story or poem or new scene from one of your wips. Do you have a draft laying around that might benefit from this week’s prompt word? Why not check it out? Whatever you do this Sunday, enjoy. Write. Then write a little more. Later, people!

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
I might as well have tattooed on my body “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. Growing up, my mother often spoke those words to me. I suppose it should come as no surprise it became one of my favorite self admonitions as an adult, lol. With copious numbers of good intentions, I find myself posting late this morning today. Heck, for some of you, you’re well into your day. Allow me to tarry no longer. This week’s prompt word, btw, comes courtesy of TVTA. Many of you have enjoyed TVTA’s writings as he has become a regular fixture at SSS and if you don’t know him, stop in and say “hey”. Tell him Girlie sent you 😀 Have a superb day (or evening!), be present and write.

Desert Succulents

Take the time to read this beautiful poem.

Cassa Bassa's avatarFlicker of Thoughts

she is scooped up by the abrasive desert wind
the forced settlement cannot break her spirit
in her arid bed sleeps her shallow roots

she is thirsty for life
the desert rain is often light and brief
too sudden and too short lived for most
for her,
she thrives in conditions others wither

she despises mediocre
the desert sun is scorching and wearing
long suffering brings out her vibrancy
nature trials her with extreme heat and cold
she births uplifting pigments to protect her fragile pose

she is beaten by the violent sandstorm
leaf scorched, foliage torn, uprooted
it seems that she has nothing left to fight
until she senses the coming of fog
and tastes the sweetness of dew
