It’s TTOT time and WowWee and I grateful! Let’s get started!

  1. Today is my sweetheart’s birthday. I am thankful for him every single day.
  2. Today, I seem to be over this bug. Food is good, once again.
  3. Daughter was able to get help for her gait and now is free of her cane, unless we are on uneven terrain.
  4. We enjoyed a walk last weekend at the Arboretum. It was just the perfect temperature for a walk. It’s pretty there even with the plants taking their wintry slumber.
  5. I did not realize that there were so many books in one place that are about plants. The arboretum houses them and sells them.
  6. I enjoy getting together with other writers in person and was able to do that a week ago. I missed this yesterday due to the bug. No sense is giving it to others.
  7. I made some beneficial health choices and notice a nice difference in how I feel.
  8. I bought a pretty planner for 2024 and getting back into the discipline or writing plans on paper. I tried and do not care for digital planning, although I now do both. When we run out of pencils and paper, I will retire.
  9. I am laughing at my own statement for #8 because I don’t ever really see me fully retiring. I like where I am in this part of life. Let’s just savor that.

  3. Daughter has been sewing and made a pretty tie and a tote bag. Great job!
  4. Holiday cards have come in. I am a slacker, except of the Angel Card Project-we get those out right after Thanksgiving-but appreciate others beautiful cards to us.
  5. Quinn, a writing friend, made it possible to send holiday cookies via their own home baking and mailing service. We were able to gift homemade cookies. They are so pretty.

Ten Things of Thankful-December 9, 2023

Happy Weekend and what a great time to be Thankful! Let’s see how many thankfuls I can come up with today.

Oh my goodness, but the weather is so North Carolinaish. It’s true what they say about what a few hours and it will change. It’s been sweater weather and I am loving it. We finally turned on the heat a couple of weeks ago. I am sure glad for the heat, but it hasn’t had to run constantly.

There has been more prayer requests than usual, but they aren’t all about needs but also provoke moments to rejoice. Thankful to have the freedom to pray and see results.

I have had some personal-as in I am not sharing specifics-heart’s desires come to fruition, so I am super grateful. Happy, happy, joy, joy!

I went to a diabetes class yesterday. I was diagnosed as having Type 2 diabetes in 2008. I’d like to say I handled it perfectly, but my human side came out a few times. However, over the past 10 years I have been more serious about managing it. The results have paid off as my A1C-which is an average of three months-is super good. In 2012 it was dangerously high and I am happy to say that I have never seen those numbers since.

Daughter has so many events going on that she’s on the go a lot. She’s going to a holiday dinner party next week. Her gait issues are resolving as they fitted her for a brace and she may be ditching the cane very soon. It’s awkward to learn these new things, with the adjustments, but she’s doing well.

This is the time of year when we work on paperwork and we didn’t fail to accomplish this goal.

How about you? What are your thankfuls? Please share in the comments of write a post.

  1. A simply simple family Thanksgiving. It was the three of us and we had a relaxing day. I cooked and they put up Christmas. I helped some, but mostly it was them. I have a thing about nobody in the kitchen unless asked. It’s mainly because I am afraid I will mess something up if interrupted. Now, when cleanup times comes, welcome!
  2. Daughter has abandoned us for her social life. Imagine that! I am grateful she has these opportunities to explore and socialize.
  3. I heard from extended family, even if briefly. I will take it. It just means they have their own lives, just like us, and are doing fine. I do miss getting together with everyone. It’s been too long.
  4. Work has been very busy, but in a good way. Lots of stuff happening, but that’s for another post, coming soon.
  5. Free Kindle books. Thank you.
  6. Sorting my office was a success. I needed to reorganize my bookshelves, which are overflowing, and was successful with this and papers. It took me longer because my shoulder is still healing, but I like how my office is and feel refreshed.
  7. Shoulder is AOK! The surgeon looked at my progress and released me from restrictions, although I am not to go out there and do something wrenching. It’s still a work in progress, but my movement is super great.
  8. My annual physical was excellent for an older bird. Numbers were quite the thing to brag about, but I won’t.
  9. There is a lot of information to read and review, to sort out the matters of these days. I am grateful for opportunities to research.
  10. You! What are feeling the thankfuls about? How about sharing in comments or posting a TTOT.
